JETTY
Branding for proprietary network, Al Jazeera Digital
Project Scope
I joined Al Jazeera Media Network to develop and design the brand for a new audio/podcast network, Jetty. Over the course of several months I worked closely with the Jetty stakeholders to develop a cohesive brand that reflected the appropriate qualities and personality while being functional in the audio/podcast space.
An initial challenge of this project was defining what exactly Jetty was, and what the brand needed to communicate. As a production network that would eventually host a variety of personality-driven shows intending to diversify the voices in the podcast space, we decided our goals were to make the brand feel authentic, unique, and approachable.
Strategically I thought it was important to use a word mark rather than a pictorial logo, as the logo would be used largely as a watermark on podcast cover art. I drew the final logo by hand, encircling the word in order to give the mark a more recognizable form at a small scale. The accompanying visual language system was designed to feel both sophisticated and imaginative, while continuing to evoke a sense of human touch.
